Took me forever...

This picture took me forever to mess around with. I don't know what it needs maybe people can help me with it. I've cropped it and sharpened it up a little and I've also messed around with the shadows and highlights. I don't know why it's not working out for me.

You're help is most appreciated.

I will put possibly a better macro up tomorrow.

Compositionally and focus-wise it's spot-on i reckon. I'm no expert with photoshop but have you tried desaturating and darkening a little? It might soften the sharp contrast between the colours somewhat, but then again I may be way off the mark and it could destroy a great shot! Follow my advice at your peril! Sorry I can't be more help.

@Stu: il give it a go mate. i didnt saturate this at all actually the light and sun were the reasons for these colours. il try ur advice and let u know how it turns out.

Hello,
I don't think there's much wrong with the picture either, I came to have a look at it because I liked the thumbnail on vfxy.
You've got good focus at the base of the stamens and a range of colours in the petals that seem to match/be balanced by the dark colours of the leaves.
The flower might be a little bit cramped (top to bottom) in the frame, so you might find a slightly different crop would make you feel happier about the picture.

Ahhhhh, the colors! Sort of ironic for the pseudonym, eh? Overall - great shot... Everyone's takin' pictures of flowers recently... Err, springtime...? :D

I like this photo! As many have commented, it's got great colors.

What I did notice upon further examination, though, was that the focus is clearest on the leaf that you can see down on the right corner. This is a little counterintuitive in a "flower photo," where the flower usually takes the focus. I think the inconstant color behind the stamen is a little complex, and so confuses the focus on the actual flower a little bit.

Photoraphing flowers can be a tricky business...
